Korean Game company Nexon offers to buy Electronic Arts
A Bloomberg Video report suggests that Korean free-to-play game company, Maplestory and Combat Arms maker, Nexon has reportedly offered to purchase Mass Effect and Battlefield publisher Electronic Arts.
According to Bloomberg, a South Korean newspaper (not cited) broke the news and doesn’t offer any more details on the potential Nexon offer to Electronic Arts. It seems that EA shares are doing well in the Stock Market in response to these rumors.
Executives from both the companies, Nexon and EA have declined to comment saying that they “discuss about rumors or speculation.”
According to a report dated April 16th by GameSpot, Electronic Arts was laying off upto 1000 staffers, close to about 11% of the company due to poor sales figures on Star Wars: The Old Republic and an expensive Battlefield 3 post-launch marketing campaign.
