Microsoft cancels Inside XBox Service, Gamers unite to raise Petition

Microsoft has announced that it has cancelled the XBox 360 information service Inside XBox to invest resources and wisely in making entertainment and gaming more ‘amazing.’

The dashboard service has been discontinued in the United States due to which content will not be available to gamers in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. According to Major Nelson’s post, XBox Live in EMEA is “currently looking at it’s operating model for Inside XBox.” He also mentioned that Inside XBox will continue to deliver first-party content for it’s members via “other media outside the Inside XBox brand.”

While some believe that Inside XBox was already killed following the dashboard update in November, others offer that Inside XBox has been replaced by Inside Advertisements.

Major Nelson on the other hand appreciated Inside XBox users on behalf of Microsoft and promised to provide members with access to high-quality news and information via the console, social media platforms and on the console’s parent site XBox.com. “We will be leveraging third-party news and video content available through a variety of existing and future partners, and supplementing this content with select first-party offerings. However, day-to-day news content and weekly programming currently offered though Inside Xbox will cease production in the United States. This includes shows like Major’s Minute, Featured Videos and Insider Moves packaged under the Inside Xbox brand,” he added.

Microsoft’s decision to shut down Inside XBox brought fans of the service together to create a petition requesting Microsoft to save the Inside XBox service, a feature that they believe has informed and helped gamers in ways that other shows haven’t.

Concerned about the service and the great community it has come to build, the petition here finds 891 signed out of the required 1000 already. Hit the link to contribute if you don’t want Inside XBox to go.
