MCM Expo London incoming this May

MCM Expo London Comic Con is “Britain’s largest pop culture festival”. The expo usually runs twice a year once in October and once in May; that not event counting the spin-off events such as MCM Birmingham.

Of the three main draws to the expo the anime, manga, comics and cosplay is  definitely the largest and most popular component. However Videogames still represent a major part of the expo; previous years have featured Counter-Strike and Dance-Dance-Revolution Tournaments along with a sizeable number of competitive card game ladders going on.

In fact this year has a number of big names confirmed. Capcom like last year is going to have a stand set to show off Dragon’s Dogma and Steel Battalion, Nintendo and Gamespot UK some random group of gonzo games journalists are also going to  be there. There’s even going to be a playable demo of the new Dead Or Alive…which means all the pubescent teenage boys are going to be no where near the ALIENS COLONIAL MARIENS MULTIPLATER DEMO. I apologise for the capitals but words cannot describe how long it’s been since a decent game based on the Alien franchise was released. Heck even Jagax is going to have a  stand with panels, art demos, the whole hog…all for RuneScape and some distant unreleased Transformers MMO.

All of those games and panels are next to nothing (well apart from the A:CM Demo) when compared to the first UK playable of Lollipop Chainsaw. The only thing that could be better would be if Suda51 made an appearance himself.

There is also going to be strong contingent of TV/ film/ voice actors along with a load of writers and artists hanging round at various stands and stalls.  Such as Ali Hillis a.k.a the voice of Lightning from Final Corridor  Final Fantasy XIII.

Overall this years expo is shaping up to be mighty fine.
