Electronic Arts brings Two Games to Ubuntu Linux for Free
Electronic Arts has brought two games to the Ubuntu Linux distribution for free and is to show up in the Ubuntu Software Center, allowing users to download and play the game for free.
Once downloaded, dash launchers and unity launchers show up the games Lord of Ultima and Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances, allowing them to run in the default browser on Ubuntu.
This news comes as an announcement from Ubuntu community manager and Canonical employee Jono Bacon who believes that “EA has identified Ubuntu as an exciting channel to deliver their content.”
“I would like to encourage our community to welcome EA to Ubuntu, and download and enjoy the games,” he mentioned.
Recently, we also reported that Valve was also working on bringing a native release of their game distribution service, Steam, to the Linux platform. We also provided images of Left for Dead 2 running on Linux. While these two games from EA are not exactly native clients, we’ll hopefully see more companies working towards bringing a native release to Linux.
