Riami is not making the Warcraft movie

If you’re a fan of Sam Riami and all of his flicks, then this little piece of news is going to be disappointing for you. Riami has confirmed that he is no more in contract to direct the World of Warcraft movie that was announced way back in 2006.

Speaking at Comic-Con earlier in the week, Riami said that Legendary Pictures could not wait for him to get around to finishing his other projects so instead chose to draft anew.

“Actually, they don’t have me directing World of Warcraft [film] any more, because when I took the Oz job, they had to move on to another director,” Riami told Crave Online.

“They had to start making it.”

Riami was announced as the director for the movie back in 2010 when he confirmed that he was going to make a stand alone script for the movie revolving around the World of Warcraft universe. But that is obviously not going to happen now.

But this may not entirely be bad news after all. The movie might have been put on hold for Riami back in the day but now that we do know that he ain’t on the project anymore, hopefully the folks at Blizzard and Legendary already got started on the movie with a new director and we will finally get to see one sometime sooner than later.

Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
